Question by Kent Fuller: What are good car auction in Los Angeles County ?
Im look to buy a good used car for dirt cheap, like impound auctions .. repo auctions

Answer by whocares
99%+ of all repos are sold at dealer only auctions.

Impound auctions tend to be cars left on the side of the road, without keys that are towed. The impound yard then sells them when people don’t come pay the towing & storage bill. They usually don’t have keys and have big problems.

Most cars sold at impound auctions are to junkyards.

Auctions are no place for the clueless and you are clueless. (No disrespect intended)

Check the Sunday edition of the L.A. times for advertised auctions. Also call any and all tow/impound yards in the cities nearest you. They sell off unclaimed cars but often don’t advertise. The best ones, at least for quantity, are the official police towing companies. These are the towing companies that have the contract with a particular city to remove crashed/abandoned vehicles. To obtain their name contact the various police departments in cities near you and ask them who their official impound towing company is. Frequently they will also have the number.

Where can I find the public car auctions for my area, Hidalgo county in Texas?

Hello Yahoo peeps, While on vacation our transmission went out! We hauled it to a uncles house (2 hours away from our home), and my sister gave us a ride back home. We’ve gotten estimates at around $1,200 to replace it. We’re without a car, thank god my daughters school is only a few blocks away.

We’re trying to find out if buying a car from a public auction would be cheaper and last us longer.

The car that broke is a 2002 dodge neon with 140k miles.

Where can we look or call to find out where there are public auctions with good used cheap cars??
Please help us out!
