how cheap do cars sell for at car auctions and is there any websites that show car auctions and wanting just plain cars and trucks not classics just everyday cars thanks

Answer by fuzzylogic_y2k At lot auctions, like repo’s and tow yards, you generally see cars go for the kelly blue book trade in value. However there are cars that even the used car lots don’t want. Mileage and condition play a big part. Those you can get dirt cheap. I picked up an 89 bmw 325is for $ 1200 and it ran fine, just missing a radio. (This was 5 years ago)

Question by MsPookieWookie: Public car auctions, yes or no?
If you are car dealer reading this I would greatly appreciate your opinion. My bf and I have been contemplating on going to a public auto auction so we can find a great deal on a car but after going to the first public sale we are beginning to think maybe this isn’t the way to go. Public sales allows all of the public and of course the dealers. Given that the dealers have the type of money that both my bf and I took years saving up, getting a deal on any car seems nearly impossible for the general public without a dealer license. Are we better off just going to a used car lot with our cash?
In case you’re wondering….
* No, I don’t know anyone who has a dealer license and would never trust a stranger who has one that can “supposedly” offer me a deal.

Answer by 1000DollarAutos most of the time i check the local paper’s website or their classified section… the county will usually make an ad (not always in the auto section) that they will be hosting an auction….
if anything you could maybe call your local DMV and they may possibly have info their website..
