What are your thoughts (part 8)?

Provide Short-term Relief to American Families
*Enact a Windfall Profits Tax to Provide a $1,000 Emergency Energy Rebate to American Families.
Obama will enact a windfall profits tax on excessive oil company profits to give American families an immediate $1,000 emergency energy rebate to help families pay rising bills. This relief would be a down payment on Obama’s long-term plan to provide middle-class families with at least $1,000 per year in permanent tax relief.

*Crack Down on Excessive Energy Speculation.
Barack Obama will close energy industry market loopholes and increase transparency to prevent traders from unfairly lining their pockets, while driving up oil prices at the expense of the American people.
*Swap Oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to Cut Prices.
With oil prices doubling in the past year, Barack Obama believes we have an economic emergency that requires a limited, responsible swap of light oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) for heavy crude oil to help bring down prices at the pump.

Eliminate Our Need for Middle Eastern and Venezuelan Oil within 10 Years
*Increase Fuel Economy Standards.
Obama will increase fuel economy standards 4 percent per year while providing $4 billion for domestic automakers to retool their manufacturing facilities in America to produce these vehicles.
*Get 1 Million Plug-In Hybrid Cars on the Road by 2015.
These vehicles can get up to 150 miles per gallon. Barack Obama believes we should work to ensure these cars are built here in America, instead of factories overseas.
*Create a New $7,000 Tax Credit for Purchasing Advanced Vehicles.
*Establish a National Low Carbon Fuel Standard.
Obama will establish a National Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) to reduce the carbon in our fuels 10 percent by 2020. Obama will also require 60 billion gallons of advanced biofuels to be phased into our fuel supply by 2030.
*A “Use it or Lose It” Approach to Existing Oil and Gas Leases.
Obama will require oil companies to develop the 68 million acres of land (over 40 million of which are offshore) which they have already leased and are not drilling on.
*Promote the Responsible Domestic Production of Oil and Natural Gas.
An Obama administration will establish a process for early identification of any infrastructure obstacles/shortages or possible federal permitting process delays to drilling in the Bakken Shale formation, the Barnett shale formation, and the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska.

Create Millions of New Green Jobs
*Ensure 10 percent of Our Electricity Comes from Renewable Sources by 2012, and 25 percent by 2025.
*Deploy the Cheapest, Cleanest, Fastest Energy Source — Energy Efficiency.
Obama will set an aggressive energy efficiency goal — to reduce electricity demand 15 percent from projected levels by 2020.
*Weatherize One Million Homes Annually.
Obama will make a national commitment to weatherize at least one million low-income homes each year for the next decade, which can reduce energy usage across the economy and help moderate energy prices for all.
*Develop and Deploy Clean Coal Technology.
Obama’s Department of Energy will enter into public private partnerships to develop five “first-of-a-kind” commercial scale coal-fired plants with clean carbon capture and sequestration technology.
*Prioritize the Construction of the Alaska Natural Gas Pipeline.
As president, Obama will work with stakeholders to facilitate construction of the pipeline. Not only is this pipeline critical to our energy security, it will create thousands of new jobs.

Reduce our Greenhouse Gas Emissions 80 Percent by 2050
*Implement an economy-wide cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050.
Obama’s cap-and-trade policy will require all pollution credits to be auctioned, and proceeds will go to investments in a clean energy future and rebates and other transition relief for families.
*Make the U.S. a Leader on Climate Change.
Obama will re-engage with the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) — the main international forum dedicated to addressing the climate problem. He will also create a Global Energy Forum of the world’s largest emitters to focus exclusively on global energy and environmental issues.
Thank you Sophie and Gaia.

Can you still buy a car a year after your car has been repossessed?

May 25th, 2010 Monica 4 comments

I got my car repo last year, but the weird thing is i have not gotten anything in the mail about my car. now two weeks after my car was repo(last year) they sent me a notice telling me that i was able to come and get my car, for a certain amount of money, but at the time i did not have it, so they went and auction my car. I never did find out how much my car was sold for. Anyway i have just moved about three months ago, and were i am living at now transportation is hard to get. and i now am thinking about getting another vehicle but this time something cheaper with lower monthly payments like a $9,000 or a $10,000 vehicle. now some friends or co-workers i talk to, tell me that i won`t be able to get a car especially with bad credit. others have told me they i might be able to get another vehicle because i have a steady job that i`ve been on for 4years. Not that it matters but my yearly income is $34,000, does anyone think that i would be able to be approved for a $9 or 10,000 car?
Like i am interested in a pre-owned vehicle not a new car. Like i am looking at a 2002 Nissan Maxima, `02 Infiniti I35, `01 Toyota Solara, `02 Acura RL etc. and i have seen ones for under $11,000

Would you have done the same thing?

My stubborn husband is a cheap jerk when it comes to automobiles! He is a good father, good husband, and very decent provider. But the only area he has a problem with is buying me used pieces of crap. We have an excellent marriage, and I couldn’t ask for a better partner in life. He “thinks” he is a decent mechanic. If he we’re a decent mechanic, then I wouldn’t have 8 barely running cars on our rented property. The only one in the family that has a decent car is my husband, because he drives 25 miles one way to work every day. Me and my husband have 3 children, and I have to take the oldest to therapy 4 days a week. My younger two are only a year old. Oh did I forget to mention that my husband is in the Navy?

Two days ago, the rear axle of my car fell off when I was driving down the road. Luckily, no one in the car was hurt. Yesterday, my husband put the axle back on and told me it was “ok to drive”.
I looked at him and said, “I’m not driving that POS anymore. This saturday you are staying here with the kids, and I’m buying myself a new car. I already know what I want.”
He said, “Why waste good money on a new car? I can get you another used one for $200-$300 at the auction.”
I said,” Your always buying used pieces of crap that break down within a matter of weeks. They are NOT safe. You are putting my life and the lives of our children at risk, because your trying to ’save a buck’. Honey I love you, but your being a stubborn jerk about this. You are staying here with the kids, and I will not discuss this with you anymore. I’m driving all 8 of those cars to the dealership just around the corner, and I am buying myself a new car.”
He said, “You are NOT spending My money, on a new car!”
I said, ” You seem to forget that I earn 1/2 of our families income! I work full-time, take our son to therapy 4 days week, take care of the girls, the house, cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, paying bills. All you do is go to work, come home, and spend time with the kids. I do all of this without complaint. We’re talking about FAIRNESS here.Your NOT being fair to me! You have two choices here: I buy a car and be happy, or I’m taking the kids and back home with my mom. What is your choice?”
He said, “Fine buy a new car.” After that he wouldn’t talk to me.

I went to the bank this morning and took out $10,000 to buy a new vehicle. Then I drove all 8 cars to the dealership right around the corner. With all of the trade-in vehicles, incentives, cash back, discounts (military, college, owner loyalty) I got a brand new 2010 Nissan Versa for $5,300. I love my new car. It’s a 4 door sedan. Fully loaded, ESC, power windows, locks, breaks, cd am/fm radio. Did I just tell you all that I love my new car?

When I got home today, I noticed that the house was spotless, my son was in his room playing, the babies we’re napping, and most of all my husband apologized for being a cheap jerk. When I showed him how much I paid for the car, his jaw dropped to the floor. He said next time he buys another car, he’s taking me with him.

Finding good prices on a used porsche cayenne turbo?

May 22nd, 2010 Monica 3 comments

Ok, I’m looking at either an 05′ porsche cayenne turbo or an 05′ cayenne S. I prefer the turbo cuz it has all the features like nav, air suspension, and xenon lights standard. It also has a lot more power! My issue is that I don’t wont to exceed $35,500. I’ve found like 3 turbos to match this but I am wondering is that the best price out there? Where are some places I can look for a cayenne turbo for cheap besides the typical autotraders and ebays? I figured maybe an auction of some sort? Any help would be great!!! Also, if you or someone you know owns either vehicle, please let me know how your/their overall experience has been. Thank You everyone!!!
If you could, please post where you found the prices so I can take a look at the specs? Thanks again.

Let the Repo man come take it away?

I have a 98 Chevy Lumina. 115,000 miles on it. It blew something (piston, bearing, whatever) in the Engine. Engine needs to be replaced. That’s about 2500 bux at worst…sure we could shop around and get it cheaper, but that’s not the point. It also needs all new tires, which is another 5/600. It just seems like a lot of money to sink into a car that is basically a piece of crap. We owe under a grand on it. So, I’m thinking we take our three grand or so, put it down on a brand new vehicle before the repossesion takes place. I know that they sell the car at auction or do something and we will owe the differnce on their recovery. But I just don’t want to deal with this car anymore. It seems really messed up that a car that is relativley so young would be so useless. So what do we do??? Actually sink the money into it or go with the new vehicle plan??

Is the chevy equinox a great car?

May 20th, 2010 Monica 4 comments

i have a friend that got a 2006 chevy equinox for a really cheap price. he won it at salvage auction for 250 dollars unbelievable right but anyway the only thing that was wrong with it was it needed a new bumper which he got for 35 dollars (unbelievable) it has over 50,000 mi on it and he has been driving it for over a year now and has not had any problems yet. the car looks great and now he wants to sell it to me for 3,000 dollars because he recently won a 2009 lexus rx 350 ( very nice car) and has no use for the equinox. the car is beautiful and it is in excellent condition i just wanted to know a little more about this car. also im 18 years old and would this be a good first car for me? Does it have too much power for a girl to handle or is it like a sports vehicle?

Is this website too good to be true?

May 19th, 2010 Monica 7 comments

I recently stumbled upon a repossessed vehicle dealer with some 2009 cars for like $8,000-$10,000. Apparently, they already won the cars in auctions and can just sell it to the public straight away. They seem legitimate (every car has a over 5 photos, they gave an address and phone number), but it still seems too good to be true. They also have two of the same website with different URLs… Anyway, do you think they seem real? Are repossessed cars really this cheap? Do you think it’s safe to buy a car from them?

These are the websites (they’re exactly the same):
www.better-carsales.com
www.quality-autosales.com
Also, on their website (or sites…), they claim to be a Carfax Certified Dealer and Merchant Certified.
